Christmas caps
The approaching Christmas 2021 brought a new concept of the Santa Claus cap or – simply Christmas cap.
One can always buy cheap, red caps in the stores and use them for one evening..and then throw them away. However, for my own grand-kids, I knitted nice and soft caps (cotton yarn used), which will last for years and hopefully leave a mark for their Christmas traditions.
Knitting the caps, I used the ornaments of Latvian ethnographic signs, choosing the ones that fit better to the each little person.
After knitting the caps to the kids, I realized that it is a very nice, practical and useful present for my family and friends.

This cap is decorated with the Mara Water sign, above which there is a line of Grass snakes, and above them – little symbols of Sun. The water means dynamics and development, grass snakes – wisdom, and the sun – warmth, light and protection against all evil.
This cap is decorated with the God sign and Mara Earth sign which symbolize peace, stability and security. In the middle line there is a row of Morning stars, which is considered to be the symbol of light, victory of light over dark. Protects from and repels evil spirits.
This cap has a line of Mara Crosses – sign of femininity and Motherhood. Mara Cross is related to fertility, fire, home, and the things that bring material well-being. It is Protector against misfortune.

The doggie Christmas hat

This hat was knitted for a doggie. The kids – owners of the doggie received the hats as a Christmas present, and so did their doggie. The doggie was very confused, but seeing the kids wearing similar hats, she also did not mind to have one (for a while). This was my first doggie-hat trial; Next time I will make it more functional, not only decorative .
